Messina

• Tier 9 Italian CL that farms lightly armored targets with SAP from the safety of her exhaust smoke. While she has solid DPM, she struggles vs. bow in targets and her vulnerable citadel makes her fragile outside of smoke
  • Essentially a Tier 9 Amalfi with CL guns and short range torps
• Uses a modified Italian CA build that trades her lack of spotter plane for improving her survivability
  • You can trade TGG for outnumbered if you prefer better speed and accuracy
  • Take Venezia’s build if you don’t want to make a dedicated captain
• Sansonetti is a great captain choice as always
• Messina is a good close-mid range cruiser who excels at supporting DD fights or picking on poorly angled cruisers and light armored BBs.
  • Messina is very maneuverable, get used to dodging shots
  • Use exhaust smoke if you need to show broadside when escaping or if you need to avoid focus fire during critical fights
  • SAP pens 42mm, good vs. light armor ships like DDs or cruisers. For BBs, target the superstructure, bow, or stern. Upper belt is also possible depending on the specific ship. Try to learn the general armor schemes of the ships you will be fighting
